Ohakune is located in the North Island, about halfway between Auckland and Wellington. It is a well-known destination for tourists and locals alike, who are looking to spend their time exploring the great outdoors. Last January 2018, we drove down to Ohakune for a 3-day weekend, mainly to finally complete the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. But of course, no trip is complete without us digging into scrumptious food. A few weeks ago, we decided to visit the South Island’s West Coast, particularly the Fox and Franz Josef Glacier. We booked a 3-night stay at one of the chalets at Jag Escape Franz Alpine Retreat, which is located at 2 Donovan Drive, State Highway 6, and is approximately a five minute drive to the Franz Josef township. This being our very first time to visit

Because we were desperate to find an available hotel in less than a week, we resorted to scanning the various hotel booking websites and we ended up reserving a double room at Holiday Inn Rotorua. Hotel room rate during our stay: $108/ night, the reservation

La Cigale is tucked within one of Auckland’s upmarket suburbs, Parnell. It has a cafe and a shop which are open seven days a week, a bistro which only operates on Wednesday evenings, and a French market which is up during the weekends. This review will focus primarily on the cafe and the weekend market because we rarely go the city on weekdays. The cafe is situated in a small corner beside the shop, this allows patrons to have a quiet, sit-down breakfast, away from the busy market area. They serve an assortment of
